Eligibility & Age Limit
Age Limit: 21–30 years as on As on 01 May 2026 — candidates must have been born between 02 April 1996 and 01 April 2005 (both dates inclusive).
SC/ST 5 years · OBC (NCL) 3 years · PwBD 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST) · Ex-Servicemen per Ministry of Personnel rules · Departmental RBI staff per RBI service rules.
Educational Qualification:
- Grade B (DR) General — 40 posts: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) from a recognised university. Final-year candidates can apply if they complete the degree before joining.
- Grade B (DR) DEPR — 10 posts: Master's degree in Economics (or Econometrics, Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Integrated Economics, Finance) with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognised university.
- Grade B (DR) DSIM — 10 posts: Master's degree in Statistics (or Mathematical Statistics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Statistics and Informatics from IIT Bombay, Applied Statistics) with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognised university.
Nationality: Indian citizen, OR a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, OR a Tibetan refugee who entered India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, OR a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries.
Selection Process
- Online Application — Apply at opportunities.rbi.org.in between 29 April and 20 May 2026 (6 PM closing). Upload photo, signature, left thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration in the prescribed format.
- Phase I — Prelims (Objective) — 200 marks objective test for the General stream (General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning). 120 minutes. Negative marking of 1/4 mark per wrong answer. Held at IBPS-style CBT centres.
- Phase II — Mains — Three papers for General stream: Paper I Economic and Social Issues (ESI), Paper II English (Writing Skills — descriptive), Paper III Finance and Management. DEPR and DSIM streams have specialised subject papers. Negative marking varies — confirm via the official notification.
- Interview — 50 marks. Candidates shortlisted on Phase II marks are called for interview at RBI regional offices. Final merit is based on Phase II + Interview combined.
- Document Verification + Medical — Originals of degree certificates, marksheets, date-of-birth proof, category certificate (where applicable), photo ID. RBI standard pre-employment medical at an empanelled hospital.
Negative marking: Phase I: 1/4 mark per wrong answer. Phase II: negative marking applies to objective sections per the official notification — confirm via the live notice.

RBI Officer Grade B (Direct Recruit) is the entry-level officer cadre at India\'s central bank. Selected officers join in pay scale ₹55,200–₹99,750 with a gross starting salary of approximately ₹1,54,936 per month (Basic + DA + Grade Allowance + HRA in Mumbai). Exam pattern
