What is the Bihar B.Ed CET?
The Bihar B.Ed CET is the Common Entrance Test conducted annually by Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, as the single admission gateway to two-year B.Ed and Shiksha Shastri programmes across every government and private B.Ed college affiliated to Bihar state universities. It replaced the multiple per-university entrance tests in 2018, consolidating admissions to roughly 36,000 B.Ed seats across the state into one rank-based counselling. Candidates seeking school-teacher careers in Bihar must clear this CET to be eligible for the subsequent teaching jobs recruitments — Bihar TET, STET and state-government teacher posts.
Bihar B.Ed CET 2026 — what we know so far
As of 5 May 2026, LNMU has not yet released the official 2026 cycle notification. Per the university's annual calendar, the information bulletin typically appears in February, with the application window running through March and the offline OMR-based test scheduled in April–May. The 2025 cycle saw approximately 1.6 lakh candidates register, with around 36,000 B.Ed seats and 1,500 Shiksha Shastri seats up for grabs across affiliated colleges. Until the bulletin drops, all dates on this page are marked tentative and updated within 24 hours of an official confirmation.
Exam pattern — 120 questions, no negative marking
The CET is a single-shift offline OMR-based test of 2 hours. Candidates answer 120 multiple-choice questions across five sections — General English (15), General Hindi (15), Logical and Analytical Reasoning (25), General Awareness (40) and Teaching Aptitude (25). Marking is +1 for a correct answer with no negative marking for incorrect responses. Maximum marks 120. The question paper is bilingual (Hindi and English) for all sections except the language-specific subsections. The wide General Awareness component rewards consistent newspaper reading and Bihar-specific GK preparation.
How to prepare in 60 days
Most candidates have an 8–10 week preparation window between application close and the exam. Anchor your prep around Teaching Aptitude and Reasoning — these two sections together carry 50 of 120 marks and respond best to mock-test practice. Use the syllabus hub and five years of previous papers from earlier Bihar B.Ed CET cycles for topic-wise drill. General Awareness benefits from a daily newspaper habit plus Bihar-specific yearbook revision. With no negative marking, attempt all 120 questions in the final exam — even educated guesses contribute to your rank.
Counselling and seat allotment
Result publication is followed by online counselling rounds on the LNMU CET portal. Candidates fill choice forms ranking preferred B.Ed colleges. Allotment runs by All-India rank within category, with Bihar-domicile candidates getting state-quota priority in government B.Ed college seats. Round 1 allotment is followed by acceptance and reporting, then Round 2 (sliding plus fresh allotment) and a spot round at participating colleges. Reporting at the allotted college with original documents confirms the seat.
Career pathways after B.Ed
A two-year B.Ed from a Bihar-affiliated college opens multiple teaching careers. Bihar TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) and Bihar STET qualifying are mandatory next steps for state-government teaching posts at primary, upper-primary, secondary and higher-secondary levels. Beyond Bihar, central recruitments via teaching jobs hub — KVS, NVS, Army Public School, DSSSB Teacher — accept B.Ed graduates with CTET pass. Salaries in the Pay Level 7 band (₹44,900 basic) for state-government PRT, with TGT and PGT cadres higher. State PCS exams via BPSC also open Bihar Education Service Group A posts for graduates with B.Ed.
