CRPF Tradesman 2026: Constable Trades Notification, Vacancies, Apply Online — Analysis & Trends
What is the CRPF Tradesman role?
The Central Reserve Police Force, India's largest Central Armed Police Force, employs trade-skilled support personnel as Constable Tradesman alongside its operational Constable (General Duty) cadre. Tradesman posts cover cobbler / mochi, tailor, carpenter, painter, washerman, water carrier, barber, sweeper, mali, gardener, cook, bugler and equivalent skilled-trade roles essential to keeping CRPF group centres, training institutions and operational bases running. Tradesmen are uniformed CRPF personnel with the same pay scale, allowances and pension benefits as General Duty constables, but their primary duty is trade-skilled support rather than tactical operations.
CRPF Tradesman 2026 — what we know so far
As of 5 May 2026, CRPF has not yet released a Tradesman 2026 cycle notification. The most recent CRPF Tradesman cycle (2022–2023) filled approximately 9,212 posts. The next notification is expected on rectt.crpf.gov.in when CRPF Directorate General confirms vacancy sanction. All dates on this page are marked tentative until the official PDF is released.

Selection — PET, PST, Trade Test, Written, Medical
Selection happens in six stages. Stage 1 is the online application on rectt.crpf.gov.in. Stage 2 is the Physical Efficiency Test — male candidates run 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds, female candidates 800 m in 4 minutes. Stage 3 is the Physical Standard Test — minimum height 170 cm male (relaxed to 165 cm for ST and certain regional categories) and 157 cm female, chest 80–85 cm for males. Stage 4 is the Trade Test, a hands-on demonstration of the trade applied for. Pay scale and career progression
CRPF Tradesman recruits at Pay Level 3 of the 7th CPC matrix with basic pay starting at ₹21,700 per month. Gross in-hand pay reaches ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 after DA, HRA, TA, Risk-Hardship Allowance, Free Ration Allowance and Uniform Allowance. CRPF personnel receive 60 days of earned leave per year, free family medical cover, pension and gratuity. Career progression leads to Head Constable Tradesman, Assistant Sub-Inspector Tradesman, Sub-Inspector and Inspector levels through departmental promotion examinations conducted regularly.
Preparation strategy
Tradesman selection weights PET, PST and Trade Test heavily — a candidate cannot reach the written exam without clearing these qualifying stages. Anchor your prep on physical fitness — daily 5–7 km runs at progressive pace, push-ups, chin-ups, long and high jump practice from day one. For the trade test, ensure documented experience or ITI certification in your declared trade. The written exam is moderate difficulty — General Awareness and Reasoning together carry 50 of 100 marks and respond well to consistent reading plus mock-test practice from our previous papers archive. Cross-prep with parallel police jobs recruitments including SSC GD Constable for paramilitary roles.
