IAF MTS Recruitment 2026: 6 Group C Civilian Posts at IAM Bangalore, Apply Offline

The Indian Air Force has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 for the direct recruitment of Group ‘C’ civilian posts, offering 6 vacancies for Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) under HQ Maintenance Command. It is a genuinely entry-level central government job: the essential qualification is only a Matriculation (Class 10) pass, the selection is purely a written test, and there is no application fee. The catch is that it is a small, single-unit recruitment and the application is offline — a typed form must physically reach Bangalore by 27 July 2026.

Vacancies and reservation

The advertisement earmarks all 6 posts against a single unit. This is the reservation exactly as printed in the official notice:

There are no SC, ST, PwBD or Ex-Servicemen reserved posts in this particular advertisement. The notice also warns that the number of vacancies may vary, and that the Command or unit may change the vacancy or reservation status at any time before selection.

Eligibility — qualification and age

Educational qualification. The essential requirement is Matriculation pass or an equivalent qualification from a recognised University or Board. One year of experience as a Watchman, Lascar, Gestetner Operator or Gardener is listed as desirable — it strengthens your application but it is not mandatory, and you can apply without it.

Age limit. 18 to 25 years. The crucial date for computing age is the last date of receipt of the application, not the date you post it. Relaxation is allowed as follows:

Important catch: an SC, ST or OBC candidate who applies against an unreserved post gets no relaxation at all — neither in age nor in experience. Choose the category you apply against carefully.

Salary — what Pay Level-1 actually pays

The advertisement states one thing about money: the post carries Level-1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, which begins at a basic pay of ₹18,000 and runs up to ₹56,900 over a full career. It does not state a monthly take-home figure, and neither will we invent one.

Your real in-hand pay is basic plus Dearness Allowance plus House Rent Allowance (which depends on whether you are posted in an X, Y or Z class city), minus deductions such as the NPS contribution. Because the posting here is Bangalore, an X-class city, HRA is at the highest slab. Selection process — written test only

The notice is unusually clear on this point: “the selection of the candidate will be purely based on the written test only”. There is no interview and no physical efficiency test. The stages are:

1. Scrutiny of applications against age, minimum qualification, documents and certificates.
2. Call letter issued to eligible candidates for the written test.
3. Written test, set at the level of the minimum educational qualification.
4. Document verification for shortlisted candidates, who must bring original certificates.

The written test covers four areas: General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English and General Awareness. The question-cum-answer paper is provided in both English and Hindi. The exam centre may be different from the city you applied from, and no TA or DA is paid for attending.

The advertisement does not publish the total marks, the duration or any negative-marking rule, so we are not printing one. Treat the call letter and the official notice as the only source for the marking scheme.

Application fee

There is no application fee for any category in this recruitment. What you must enclose is a self-addressed envelope with postage stamps worth ₹10 pasted on it. That is a postage requirement, not a fee, and no money is paid to the Air Force. If anyone asks you to pay to apply for this post, it is a fraud.

How to apply for IAF MTS 2026 (offline)

There is no online portal for this vacancy. The application travels by post.

1. Type the application in the Annexure-I proforma given in the advertisement, in English or Hindi. Handwritten forms are not what the notice asks for.
2. Affix a recent passport-size photograph (self-attested) on the form, and keep two more identical photographs to enclose.
3. Attach self-attested copies of proof of education, date of birth, caste or EWS or PwBD certificate (issued by the competent civil authority), and any experience certificate.
4. OBC candidates must be in the Central List of OBCs and must enclose a non-creamy-layer certificate. EWS candidates need an Income and Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026-27 based on FY 2025-26 income.
5. Enclose a self-addressed envelope with ₹10 stamps pasted, address typed in English or Hindi.
6. Write clearly on the outer envelope: APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ______ AND UNIT ______.
7. Post it so that it REACHES the address below by 27 July 2026 — that is 30 days from publication. The Air Force explicitly states it will not be responsible for postal delay, and applications received after the closing date are rejected.

Beware of the fake posts circulating for this vacancy

This recruitment is being shared on social media with inflated and invented details. Check any post you see against the official notice:

• “Salary ₹28,000 to ₹32,000” — the advertisement states Pay Level-1 (basic ₹18,000), not a take-home figure. Any monthly number is an estimate, not the stated pay.
• “Comment JOB for the link” or “share to get details” — no government recruitment ever works this way. Those posts exist to farm engagement or to phish you.
• Posts that omit that there are only 6 posts at one Bangalore unit are selling you a much bigger opportunity than exists.
• Nobody can charge you a fee, guarantee selection, or sell you a form. The form is free and printed in the advertisement.
