SC / ST cut-offs run 30-50 marks below UR. The full subject-wise list is in the cut-off PDF on mppsc.mp.gov.in.
MP SET qualify karne ke liye kitne marks chahiye?
You need to meet two conditions together. (1) Aggregate marks floor: 40% for UR / EWS / Orphan or 35% for SC / ST / OBC / PwD / Transgender, across Paper-1 + Paper-2. (2) Top-6% rule: even after clearing the floor, you must finish within the top 6% of candidates who appeared in both papers, in your subject and category. The cut-off mark for your subject and category is the cut-off of the last candidate inside that 6%.
MP SET certificate kitne saal valid rehta hai?

MP SET aur UGC-NET mein kya farak hai?
Both qualify you for Assistant Professor recruitment. UGC-NET is conducted twice a year by NTA across India and is accepted nationwide. For posts notified under MP-state quotas, some universities prefer MP SET.

Qualified candidates can download it from their candidate dashboard on mppsc.mp.gov.in. ✅ MPPSC SET 2026 Result is OUT — 11 May 2026

What MP SET is, in one paragraph

The MP State Eligibility Test (SET) is a one-time qualifying test conducted by MPPSC. Clearing it gets you a lifetime SET certificate that lets you apply for Assistant Professor recruitment at Madhya Pradesh state universities and their affiliated colleges. It is the MP-state counterpart to the UGC-NET conducted by NTA. Both are accepted for Assistant Professor posts in MP, but the SET is restricted to MP-funded institutions for some recruitments while UGC-NET is accepted across India.

How to check your MP SET 2026 result

  1. Open mppsc.mp.gov.in on a desktop or laptop. The roll-number list runs into hundreds of pages, so a phone screen is painful.
  2. Click the "State Eligibility Test (SET) Result" link near the top of the homepage.
  3. Open the subject-wise result PDF for the subject you appeared in.
  4. Press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on Mac) and type your roll number. If the roll number is in the PDF, you have qualified.
  5. Save the relevant page as a screenshot. You will produce this at the document-verification stage of any future Assistant Professor recruitment in MP.
  6. Also save the category-wise cut-off PDF. The cut-off mark for your subject and category is what MPPSC will quote when issuing the certificate.

The PDFs do not require a login. There is no application number or DOB lookup screen. If MPPSC is slow on declaration day, refresh after 15-20 minutes or use a mirror once the press carries it.

Subject and category cut-offs (sample)

MPPSC released the cut-offs as part of the 11 May 2026 announcement. A small sample taken from the official sheet (UR / OBC / SC / ST in marks):

SubjectUROBCSCST
Management206196186170
Law194180166154
English194176160152
Computer Science174156146142

For other subjects, refer to the cut-off PDF on mppsc.mp.gov.in. Cut-offs vary widely because they depend on the difficulty of the subject paper and the number of candidates who appeared in that subject.

Who qualifies, and why "40% / 35%" is only half the story

The MP SET pass rule has two parts that both must be met:

  1. Aggregate marks floor: 40% across Paper-1 + Paper-2 for UR / EWS / Orphan candidates. 35% for SC / ST / OBC / PwD / Transgender candidates.
  2. Top-6% rule: Even if you clear the aggregate floor, you must finish within the top 6% of candidates who appeared in both papers, in your subject and category. This is what produces the cut-off marks released alongside the result. Many candidates who clear 40% still do not qualify because they fall outside this 6%.

That is why MPPSC publishes a cut-off mark for every subject and category. The cut-off is essentially the marks of the last candidate inside the 6% window. If you scored above that, your roll number appears in the result PDF.

If you qualified — what to do next

  • Download and save the result PDF page that lists your roll number. Take a screenshot too.
  • Watch the MPPSC candidate portal for the SET Eligibility Certificate download link, expected in June-July 2026. The certificate is what you submit at the recruitment stage.
  • Keep your Master's degree marksheet, NET certificate (if any), publications and teaching experience in a single folder. MP universities ask for these at the recruitment stage.
  • Watch MPPSC plus the websites of MP state universities (DAVV Indore, RDVV Jabalpur, Barkatullah Bhopal, Vikram Ujjain, APSU Rewa) for Assistant Professor notifications. Vacancies typically open in cycles every 18-24 months.
  • If you have both UGC-NET and MP SET, use whichever offers better eligibility for the specific recruitment. Some MP universities prefer MP SET for posts notified under MP-state quotas.

If you did not qualify this time

The SET is held in cycles. MPPSC has historically conducted SET every 2-3 years rather than annually, so the next attempt in MP may not come for a while. Two practical options:

  • Attempt UGC-NET, conducted twice a year by NTA. The UGC-NET certificate is accepted for Assistant Professor recruitment in MP universities and across India. The next UGC-NET cycle will follow its usual schedule on the NTA portal.
  • Take a closer look at the cut-off you missed. If you missed by a small margin, your preparation is already at the right level. A focused 4-6 month plan on Paper-2 subject content and Paper-1 research aptitude usually closes the gap.
