What CBT-2 means & what comes next
CBT-2 is the second-stage exam taken by candidates shortlisted from the Graduate CBT-1 result. It is generally tougher and more decisive than CBT-1, and the score determines shortlisting for the post-specific next stage — a typing skill test (for clerk/typist posts), a computer-based aptitude test (for Station Master/Traffic Assistant), or directly document verification, depending on the post. The merit for final selection is built primarily on CBT-2 (with CBAT/typing as qualifying for the relevant posts).
Exam-day checklist
Carry your printed admit card and original photo ID, reach the centre at the reporting time on the call letter (gates close well before the exam), and follow the dress-code and prohibited-items rules on the admit card. Verify your RRB region, date and shift carefully on the city slip — these are final once published.

A note on the last fortnight.
CBT-2 is where the NTPC graduate recruitment is actually decided, so the run-up to 10 July matters more than any earlier stage. Unlike CBT-1, CBT-2 has a higher difficulty band and the General Awareness and Maths sections carry real weight — so prioritise revision of current affairs, arithmetic and reasoning speed over learning anything new this late. Download the city slip the moment it drops on 1 July and plan travel early; candidates routinely lose attempts to last-minute travel and reporting-time errors, not to the paper. One specific tip: confirm whether your chosen post needs a typing test or CBAT afterward, and start light practice now so you are not scrambling after results. Treat the official regional RRB call letter as the single source of truth for your centre, date and shift.
