What happens after the result — IGNFA Dehradun training

Recommended candidates receive an appointment letter from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and report to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun for a structured 2-year probation:

  • Foundation Course (3-4 months): Held jointly with IAS / IPS / IRS probationers at LBSNAA Mussoorie or LBSNAA-equivalent. Covers general administration, public policy, India's Constitution, ethics in governance.
  • Professional Course Year 1: Silviculture, forest mensuration, wildlife management, forest law, environmental economics, GIS + remote sensing, forest engineering. Includes a mid-course attachment with a working forest division.
