Which posts are in CRE-5 — and who qualifies

CRE-5 bundles dozens of post groups with very different eligibility. The main families:

• Clerical / administrative — Lower Division Clerk (Class 12 + typing speed), Junior Administrative Officer and similar (Bachelor degree).
• Pharmacy — Pharmacist / Pharmacist Grade II (Diploma or Degree in Pharmacy + State Pharmacy Council registration).
• Laboratory & diagnostics — Medical Lab Technologist / Technician (B.Sc MLT or DMLT), Radiographer, and similar paramedical roles.

• Dietetics & allied — Dietician / Assistant Dietician (B.Sc / M.Sc Food & Nutrition).

Because qualifications differ so much, the single most important step is to open the post-wise eligibility chart in the official notice and apply only for groups you genuinely qualify for — applying for ineligible posts wastes the per-group fee.

How to apply on the AIIMS portal — step by step

1. Go to the AIIMS exam portal (the official link is in the Important Links section at the bottom of this page) and register / log in with a valid email and mobile number.
2. Open the CRE-5 2026 advertisement and read the post-wise eligibility, age and qualification chart carefully.
3. Fill the application form — personal details, qualification, category — exactly as per your certificates.
4. Select the post group(s) you qualify for. Remember the fee is per group, so each additional group adds ₹3,000 / ₹2,400.
5. Upload your photograph, signature and any required documents in the prescribed format and size.
6. Pay the fee online (per group selected) and submit. Download and print the final application for your records.
7. Watch the portal and your registered email for the admit card, expected about 7–10 days before the CBT.

Application fee — why it can add up fast

Unlike most single-post recruitments, AIIMS CRE charges the fee per post group you apply for:

• General / OBC: ₹3,000 per group.
• SC / ST / EWS: ₹2,400 per group.
• PwBD: exempt.

So a General candidate applying for three different post groups pays roughly ₹9,000, not ₹3,000. Decide which groups you are genuinely competitive for before paying — chasing every loosely-matching post is expensive and spreads your preparation thin.

Exam pattern & selection

Selection is primarily through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), tentatively scheduled for 25–27 July 2026. The CBT is objective and post-group-specific — questions combine the relevant technical/professional subject with general aptitude and awareness; the exact number of questions, marks and negative-marking rule for your post group are stated in the notice. Marks are normalised across shifts. Candidates are shortlisted category-wise and post-wise for document verification; clerical and some technical posts may also have a qualifying typing or skill test. Final merit rests on CBT performance plus the reservation roster and your post preference. Confirm the exact pattern for your post in the official notification rather than relying on general descriptions.

Salary & why AIIMS jobs are sought-after

AIIMS non-faculty posts carry 7th CPC pay levels — typically Pay Level 2–6 for Group C and Group B depending on the post (for example, LDC around Pay Level 2, Pharmacist/Technologist around Pay Level 5, Nursing Officer around Pay Level 7 in many central setups). On top of basic pay come Dearborn allowance (DA), HRA by city class, Transport Allowance and AIIMS-specific allowances, with CGHS medical cover, NPS pension and strong job security. Beyond pay, an AIIMS posting carries prestige and clear departmental promotion pathways, which is why CRE cycles attract very large applicant volumes for relatively few seats.

Preparation pointers — about 6 weeks to the CBT

• Lock your post group first. Your entire syllabus depends on it — a Pharmacist CBT and an LDC CBT share almost nothing beyond general awareness.
• Master the professional subject. For paramedical/pharmacy/nursing posts, the technical section decides selection; revise your diploma/degree core thoroughly.
• General awareness + aptitude. Cover current affairs, basic reasoning and quantitative aptitude at the standard CBT level.
• Practice in CBT mode. Take timed mock tests to build speed and accuracy under the normalisation-and-negative-marking format.
• Keep documents ready for verification: qualification certificates, registration (pharmacy/nursing council), category certificate, ID proof and the application printout.
