The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has opened its fifth Common Recruitment Exam (CRE-5) for 1,484 Group B and Group C non-faculty posts. AIIMS New Delhi conducts the exam, but the posts belong to many institutions — AIIMS branches plus central institutes such as JIPMER, Safdarjung, and Lady Hardinge — and each participating institute handles its own appointment, document verification and posting. Because eligibility differs sharply from one post to the next, the first thing to do is find your post in the official notification and read its exact requirements.

What the AIIMS CRE is

The Common Recruitment Exam is AIIMS's centralised hiring route: one notification and one CBT fill non-faculty vacancies across multiple institutions. You complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) once, get a single Candidate ID, and apply to as many eligible post groups as you wish (a separate fee applies per group). CRE-5 covers roughly 57 post groups, and merit is drawn on your CBT score.

CBT exam pattern & marking

The CBT is a single 90-minute online test of 100 MCQs for 400 marks (each question carries 4 marks):

PartQuestionsMarks
General Knowledge, Aptitude & Computer Knowledge2080
Domain (specific to your post group)80320
Total100400

There is negative marking of 1/4th — i.e. −1 mark for each wrong answer (since each question is worth 4 marks). The paper is split into 5 sections of 18 minutes each (20 questions per section), and once a section's time ends you cannot return to it, so manage time section by section. The qualifying marks are 40% (UR/EWS), 35% (OBC) and 30% (SC/ST and PwBD).

Posts & who can apply

The 1,484 vacancies span Nursing Officer, Pharmacist, Lab Technologist, Technician, Junior Engineer, Dietician, Physiotherapist and many administrative and technical roles. The qualification depends entirely on the post — and a single "group" can hold posts of different institutes with different age, qualification and experience rules — so confirm your post's exact eligibility in Annexure-I before paying the fee. The crucial date for age and qualification is the 3 July closing date. Candidates working in a Government/PSU/autonomous body (including contractual staff) must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC). If you are weighing options, see the graduate jobs hub or the 12th-pass jobs hub.

How to apply

  1. Go to aiimsexams.ac.in (the official link is in the Important Links section below) and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) — verify your mobile and email by OTP, optionally via DigiLocker. Use the same Candidate ID if you have registered before.
  2. Log in, click "Add New Application" for the CRE-5 cycle, and select your post group.
  3. Fill personal, category/domicile, qualification and (where required) experience details, and choose your examination state preference.
  4. Upload your photograph, signature, left-thumb impression and documents — including the NOC if you are a government/PSU employee.
  5. Pay the fee — ₹3,000 (General/OBC) or ₹2,400 (SC/ST/EWS) — separately for each group; PwBD candidates are exempt.
  6. Submit before 3 July 2026, 5 PM and download the application form. Use "Add New Application" (not edit) to apply for another group.

⚠️ Beware of recruitment fraud

AIIMS has issued a public caution (Notice 94/2026) against recruitment fraud. Official CRE-5 notices appear only on aiimsexams.ac.in (or its sub-domains). AIIMS does not authorise any agent, coaching centre, WhatsApp/Telegram group or third-party website for this recruitment, and it never asks for money or "seats" beyond the prescribed application fee. Ignore anyone offering a guaranteed job, fake call letters or appointment letters for payment, and verify every detail only on the official portal.

Why this recruitment matters

AIIMS non-faculty posts combine a respected institution, central-government pay and strong job security, and a single CBT opens doors at many AIIMS and central institutes at once. With 1,484 vacancies across so many post groups, candidates from nursing, pharmacy, lab-tech, engineering and clerical backgrounds all have a route in — provided they match the post-wise eligibility. For other live central-government openings, browse the graduate jobs hub, and see our AIIMS NORCET 10 result page for the AIIMS nursing-officer exam.

A note before you apply.

The 3 July deadline is firm — AIIMS has stated there is no extension, so apply early. Two things decide your CBT: the −1 negative marking and the section-lock. With four marks for a correct answer and one deducted for a wrong one, blind guessing is costly; and because the paper runs as five 18-minute sections you cannot revisit, you must pace yourself rather than leave a section half-done. A second, money-saving point: the fee is charged per group, so apply only to the groups your qualification genuinely fits — a single group can contain posts of different institutes with different eligibility, and scattering applications wastes fees because each post has its own filter. Finally, treat the AIIMS fraud caution seriously: no genuine AIIMS process asks for payment beyond the prescribed fee, and every notice worth trusting is on aiimsexams.ac.in. Confirm your post-wise eligibility, age and any skill-test or NOC requirement against Annexure-I before the closing date.
