Eligibility — Qualification, GATE Score & Age

• Qualification: A full-time Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates).
• GATE requirement: A valid GATE-2025 score in Mining Engineering (paper code MN). GATE scores from other years or other papers are not accepted.
• Age limit: Maximum 30 years as on 30 April 2026. Relaxations — OBC-NCL +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, PwBD as per rules — apply within the prescribed cap.

• SC / ST and CIL employees: Exempted

Selection Process

Because selection is GATE-based, the steps are simple but competitive:

1. CIL prepares a category-wise merit list from valid GATE-2025 (MN) scores of all eligible applicants.
2. Candidates are shortlisted in the ratio of approximately 1:3 per category for the next stage.
3. Shortlisted candidates undergo document verification and a medical examination.
4. The final select list is drawn strictly on GATE-2025 merit, subject to verification and medical fitness.

Salary & Career

Selected Management Trainees join in the E-1 executive grade with a pay scale of ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000 (entry basic ₹60,000/month), plus DA, perks and allowances per CIL rules. After training and probation, MTs are confirmed as executives with a clear promotional ladder through E-2, E-3 and beyond.
