The Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL), Dehradun — a premier DRDO lab working on software-defined radios, SATCOM, data links and surveillance — has invited online applications for engagement of 77 apprentices for 2026-27 under Advertisement No. DEAL/HRD/Apprenticeship/2026-27 (dated 23 June 2026). The apprenticeship is a one-year training under the Apprentices Act 1961, covering Graduate, Diploma and ITI categories. There is no application fee, and applications are online through NATS/NAPS.
Vacancies, qualification & stipend
- Graduate Apprentices — 19 posts: B.E./B.Tech (or equivalent) with 60% in Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; plus Library Science (B.Sc PCM/PCB + B.Lib/B.L.I.Sc with 60%). Stipend ₹12,300/month.
- Diploma (Technician) Apprentices — 8 posts: Diploma in Engineering/Technology with 60% in ECE, Mechanical, Computer Science or Electrical. Stipend ₹10,900/month.
- ITI / Trade Apprentices — 50 posts: ITI pass with NCVT/SCVT certificate across 21 trades (Electronics Mechanic, ICTSM, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, COPA, Draughtsman, Stenographer, Wireman, Lineman and more). Stipend ₹10,560/month.
For Graduate and Diploma apprentices, the stipend is shared 50% by DEAL and 50% by BOAT under the DBT scheme.
Eligibility
Only Indian nationals are eligible. Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 as regular candidates, with the result declared by the last date. The minimum age is 18 years (maximum age and relaxation as per the Apprentices Act 1961 and NATS 2.0 / NAPS guidelines). Importantly, candidates with a higher qualification than required, or who have already done (or are doing) apprenticeship training or have one year or more of work experience after qualifying, are not eligible. PwBD candidates are eligible only for the designated trades.

- ITI: register on the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in), then go to My Opportunities → All Opportunities → Filter by Establishment, search "Defence Electronics Application Laboratory" (Establishment Code E01160500005) and apply.
- Enter your marks as a percentage (convert CGPA per your university norms), upload all mandatory documents, and submit before the last date.

Selection process
Selection is based on academic merit, a written test, an interview or a walk-in interview — or a combination of these — depending on the category and discipline, subject to satisfactory document verification.
