What does the JEE Advanced scorecard show?
The scorecard shows your subject-wise marks across Paper 1 and Paper 2, your combined total, your qualifying status, and — for qualified candidates — your All India Rank (AIR / Common Rank List) and category rank. Every qualified candidate gets a CRL rank; reserved-category candidates additionally get a category rank. The scorecard is the document you carry through the entire JoSAA and admission process.
How is the JEE Advanced cut-off decided?
To enter the rank list, a candidate must clear both a minimum mark in each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and a minimum aggregate, on a category-wise basis. Missing even one subject's minimum means you are excluded regardless of your total. The exact qualifying marks are set by IIT Roorkee each year and are published with the official rank list — check the official document for the precise 2026 figures rather than relying on unofficial numbers.
What is JoSAA counselling and when does it start?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) handles seat allocation for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs through multiple rounds at josaa.nic.in. It is a separate registration from JEE Advanced — qualifying the exam does not auto-enrol you. JoSAA registration and choice-filling began around 2–3 June 2026, so qualified candidates should register and lock their choices promptly.
Practical Tips
- CRL vs category rank — both appear on the scorecard; JoSAA uses the relevant one for each seat type.
- JoSAA is separate — register on josaa.nic.in; qualifying alone doesn't reserve a seat.
- AAT is only for B.Arch aspirants (IIT Roorkee & IIT Kharagpur) — a separate test.
- Keep 2–3 printouts of your scorecard for the admission process.
