Railway Apprentice versus PSU Trade Apprentice
Railway Apprentice runs zone-wise via Railway Recruitment Cells with merit-based selection (no written test) — eligibility is 10th plus ITI in the relevant trade. Training is 1 year stipendiary, after which absorption is not guaranteed but merit-based selection for permanent Group D posts opens regularly. PSU Trade Apprentice via BHEL, NTPC and others runs annually with a written test, fixed 1-year stipendiary training, and zero absorption commitment. Railway route has higher absorption probability for top performers; PSU route pays better during training.
Preparation strategy for ITI-pass aspirants
Build a 6-month plan focused on your specific trade syllabus plus general aptitude (Reasoning, Arithmetic, GK and English).
