Frequently Asked Questions

NEET UG 2026 ka syllabus kya hai?
NEET UG 2026 syllabus is entirely from NCERT Class 11 + Class 12 textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany + Zoology). Physics: Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Optics, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics, Waves, Oscillations. Chemistry: Physical, Inorganic, Organic — including Mole concept, Chemical Bonding, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Coordination Compounds, Hydrocarbons, Aldehydes/Ketones/Acids, Amines, Biomolecules. Biology: Diversity, Cell Biology, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics + Evolution, Ecology, Biotechnology. NMC has deleted several topics (Transport in Plants, Mineral Nutrition, Environmental Chemistry, etc.) — those deletions carry into NEET 2026.
NEET exam pattern + marking scheme kya hai?
180 MCQs · 720 marks · 3 hours · offline pen-paper OMR exam. Subject split: Physics 45 Q (180 marks), Chemistry 45 Q (180 marks), Biology 90 Q (360 marks) divided as Botany 45 + Zoology 45. Marking: +4 correct, -1 wrong, 0 unattempted. Each wrong answer costs you 5 marks net (lose 4 you would have got + lose 1 more for negative). Biology alone is 50% of total marks — make it your strongest subject.
Biology me kitne chapters hain aur sabse important kaunse hain?
Biology has ~29 chapters across NCERT Class 11 + 12, split between Botany and Zoology. Highest-weight topics (~70% of Biology questions): Human Physiology (35-40%), Genetics + Evolution (18-20%), Ecology + Environment (10-12%). Other significant areas: Cell Biology + Biomolecules (8-10%), Reproduction (7-9%), Biotechnology (5-7%), Plant Physiology (5-7%), Diversity in Living World (4-6%). Master Human Physiology first — it's the single largest scoring block in NEET.
NEET ke liye eligibility kya hai?
Education: Class 12 pass with Physics + Chemistry + Biology (or Biotechnology) + English as core subjects · PCB aggregate 50% for UR + EWS, 40% for SC + ST + OBC, 45% for PwBD. NIOS Class 12 candidates eligible per Supreme Court ruling. Age: minimum 17 years at admission (1 December of the admission year). No upper age limit per the 2022 Supreme Court ruling. Nationality: Indian citizens, OCI cardholders, NRIs, Persons of Indian Origin, and foreign nationals all eligible.
NMC ne kya topics delete kiye hain?
NMC trimmed the syllabus in earlier revisions; deletions carry into NEET 2026: Biology: Transport in Plants (entire chapter), Mineral Nutrition (entire chapter), portions of Digestion + Absorption + descriptive Ecology + Reproduction subtopics. Chemistry: Environmental Chemistry (entire chapter), portions of States of Matter, Surface Chemistry, Solid State, Metallurgy, and Polymers. Physics: Some vector basics in Kinematics, friction specifics in Laws of Motion, centre-of-mass details in Rotational Motion, accuracy/precision sections in Physics & Measurement. Always download the latest NMC syllabus PDF from neet.nta.nic.in before starting prep — coaching content lags the official revision by a cycle.
NEET qualifying marks + percentile kitne chahiye?
Qualifying percentile (recent cycles): UR + EWS 50th percentile, SC + ST + OBC 40th percentile, PwBD 45th percentile. In raw marks, recent qualifying cut-offs translate to approximately UR 720-138 marks, OBC/SC/ST 137-108 marks, PwBD 137-122 marks. But for MBBS admission the real cut-off is much higher — government MBBS typically needs 600+ marks, top AIIMS / JIPMER seats need 700+ marks. The qualifying cut-off only opens the counselling door; the admission cut-off depends on seat availability and category.
Best books for NEET prep?
NCERT Class 11 + 12 for all 3 subjects is non-negotiable — ~40-50% of NEET questions are directly from NCERT lines. Physics: NCERT + H.C. Verma (Concepts of Physics) + D.C. Pandey (Objective Physics for NEET). Chemistry: NCERT + O.P. Tandon (Physical + Inorganic) + Morrison & Boyd or M.S. Chouhan (Organic). Biology: NCERT (most important) + Trueman's Elementary Biology + Pradeep's Biology + MTG Fingertips for last-week revision. Previous papers: Disha NEET PYQ + MTG Chapter-wise. Mocks: Allen / Aakash / Resonance test series.
NEET counselling kaise hota hai?
NEET counselling has two parallel tracks. All-India 15% quota: Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in — open to all candidates regardless of state domicile. Includes central institutes (AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU, DU, AFMC) + 15% of state government college seats. Multiple rounds: Round 1 → Round 2 → Mop-up → Stray Vacancy. Preparation strategy — 12-month framework

  1. Foundation (months 1-3): Read NCERT Class 11 + 12 textbooks for all 3 subjects cover-to-cover, line-by-line. NCERT IS the syllabus — do NOT skip lines, diagrams, captions, or marginal text. ~40-50% of NEET questions are directly from NCERT lines.
  2. Concept building (months 4-6): Standard reference books for deeper understanding — H.C. Verma + D.C. Pandey for Physics, O.P. Tandon for Chemistry, Trueman's + S. Chand for Biology. Solve chapter-wise MCQs.
  3. Application + previous papers (months 7-9): Solve last 15-20 years of NEET papers (2010 onwards) and AIIMS / JIPMER papers. Pattern repeats — Human Physiology questions especially recycle direction.
  4. Revision + mocks (months 10-12): 30-40 full-length mocks at exam-day timing (2 PM-5 PM IST). Negative-marking discipline matters — at 720/180-question scale, every -5-net-mark wrong drops your AIR by 200-300 places.
  5. Last 2 weeks: NCERT one final pass + formula sheets + diagram sheets. NO new books or topics.

Recommended books per subject

  • Physics: NCERT Class 11 + 12 (Part I + II for each) · H.C. Verma — Concepts of Physics · D.C. Pandey — Objective Physics for NEET · Errorless Physics
  • Chemistry: NCERT Class 11 + 12 · O.P. Tandon for Physical + Inorganic · Morrison & Boyd or M.S. Chouhan for Organic · Dinesh Objective Chemistry
  • Biology: NCERT Class 11 + 12 (most important) · Trueman's Elementary Biology Vol 1 + 2 · Pradeep's Biology · GR Bathla's Objective Biology · MTG Fingertips for revision
  • Previous papers: Disha NEET Previous Year Papers · MTG NEET Chapter-wise Topic-wise Solutions
  • Mock tests: Allen / Aakash / Resonance test series · MTG NEET Mock Test Series

Counselling + admission flow

Includes seats at central institutes (AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU, DU, AFMC), and 15% of state government college seats. Multiple rounds: Round 1 → Round 2 → Mop-up → Stray Vacancy.
  2. State 85% Quota: Each state runs its own counselling via the state Director of Medical Education / state government portal. Domicile requirements vary by state. Most state government college seats fall here.

AIR ranges (recent cycles):
