Eligibility & Age Limit

Age Limit: 17–— years as on 31 December of the admission year (e.g. 31 Dec 2026 for NEET UG 2026 admission cycle)

No upper age limit per the 2022 Supreme Court ruling. Minimum 17 years at admission applies to all categories.

Educational Qualification:

• MBBS / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / BUMS / B.Sc Nursing admission: Class 12 (Higher Secondary) pass with Physics + Chemistry + Biology (or Biotechnology) + English as core subjects. PCB aggregate: 50% for UR + EWS, 40% for SC + ST + OBC, 45% for PwBD. Both English and PCB taken together must clear. Open School (NIOS) Class 12 candidates eligible per Supreme Court ruling.
• AIIMS / JIPMER MBBS: Same NEET-UG eligibility — AIIMS + JIPMER allopathic seats moved into NEET counselling in 2020.

2. Register with a valid email and mobile number to generate login credentials.
3. Fill the application form with personal, educational, and contact details exactly as on official documents.
4. Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
5. Pay the application fee through the prescribed payment mode (see Application Fee table above).
6. Review all entries carefully, then submit the form.
7. Download and print a copy of the submitted application for your records.

NMC syllabus deletions (carried into NEET 2026)

NMC trimmed several topics from the syllabus in earlier revisions. The deletions remain applicable for NEET 2026:

Physics deletions

• Selected vector basics and calculus applications in Kinematics
• Some friction and equilibrium specifics in Laws of Motion
• Centre-of-mass derivations in Rotational Motion
• Detailed accuracy + precision sections in Physics & Measurement
• Select Gravitation + satellite-orbit details

Chemistry deletions

• Environmental Chemistry — entire chapter removed
• Some States of Matter portions (gas laws, real gases)
• Selected Surface Chemistry (catalysis sections)
• Solid State (Class 12) — significantly reduced
• General Principles of Metallurgy (some sections)
• Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday Life — partial

Biology deletions

• Transport in Plants (entire chapter removed)
• Mineral Nutrition (entire chapter removed)

Preparation strategy — 12-month framework

1. Foundation (months 1-3): Read NCERT Class 11 + 12 textbooks for all 3 subjects cover-to-cover, line-by-line. NCERT IS the syllabus — do NOT skip lines, diagrams, captions, or marginal text. ~40-50% of NEET questions are directly from NCERT lines.
2. Concept building (months 4-6): Standard reference books for deeper understanding — H.C. Verma + D.C. Pandey for Physics, O.P. Tandon for Chemistry, Trueman's + S. Chand for Biology. Solve chapter-wise MCQs.
3. Application + previous papers (months 7-9): Solve last 15-20 years of NEET papers (2010 onwards) and AIIMS / JIPMER papers. Pattern repeats — Human Physiology questions especially recycle direction.
4. Revision + mocks (months 10-12): 30-40 full-length mocks at exam-day timing (2 PM-5 PM IST). Negative-marking discipline matters — at 720/180-question scale, every -5-net-mark wrong drops your AIR by 200-300 places.
5. Last 2 weeks: NCERT one final pass + formula sheets + diagram sheets. NO new books or topics.

Counselling + admission flow

NEET counselling has two parallel tracks:

1. All-India 15% Quota (MCC): Medical Counselling Committee at mcc.nic.in. Open to all candidates regardless of state domicile. Includes seats at central institutes (AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU, DU, AFMC), and 15% of state government college seats. Multiple rounds: Round 1 → Round 2 → Mop-up → Stray Vacancy.
2. State 85% Quota: Each state runs its own counselling via the state Director of Medical Education / state government portal. Domicile requirements vary by state. Most state government college seats fall here.

AIR ranges (recent cycles):

• AIIMS satellite (Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur etc.): AIR 50-500
• JIPMER Puducherry: AIR 50-200
