How the Admit Card Stage Works
- CBT-1 (this stage) — Computer-Based Test of 100 MCQs / 100 marks / 90 minutes covering General Awareness (40), Mathematics (30) and General Intelligence & Reasoning (30). Conducted in 15 languages including Hindi, English and 13 regional languages. Negative marking 1/3 mark per wrong answer. Held across 3 shifts daily on 7-9 May and 13-21 June 2026.
- CBT-1 Normalisation — Because the exam runs across multiple shifts and dates with different question papers, RRB applies shift-wise normalisation to standardise scores. The normalised score (not raw score) decides shortlisting for CBT-2 on a 20-times-vacancy basis category-wise.
- CBT-2 (Mains) — 120 questions / 120 marks / 90 minutes — General Awareness (50), Mathematics (35), General Intelligence & Reasoning (35). Negative marking 1/3 mark per wrong answer. Higher difficulty level than CBT-1. Shortlisting for the next stage on 8-times-vacancy basis.
- Typing Skill Test (Junior Clerk + Accounts Clerk only) — Qualifying-only test. 30 wpm in English OR 25 wpm in Hindi on a computer keyboard. Test is qualifying — no marks added to merit; candidates only need to clear the speed floor to remain in selection.
- Document Verification + Medical Examination — Shortlisted candidates appear with originals — Class 10 / 12 marksheets, photo-ID, caste / EWS certificate if applicable, RRB-domicile if claimed, NOC for government employees. Medical fitness as per Indian Railways Medical Manual — category B-1 / B-2 for these UG NTPC posts.
- Final Merit List + Posting — Final merit purely on CBT-2 marks (CBT-1 is only a screening test, marks not carried forward). Selected candidates posted to one of 17 Indian Railways zones based on preference + RRB-wise allocation. Initial posting + training of 6-12 months before regular duty.
Negative marking: 1/3 mark (0.33) deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2. Unattempted questions carry no penalty. Multiple options ticked on the same question count as a wrong answer.

How the CBT-1 Admit Card was downloaded (window now closed)
The CBT-1 admit-card download window has closed now that both batches are over. For reference — and for candidates verifying records during the objection stage — this is the exact process RRB used:
- Visit the official RRB CBT portal at rrb.digialm.com (the same digialm.com infrastructure that hosts other PSU CBTs).
- Click the link "RRB NTPC Under Graduate (CEN 07/2025) CBT-1 Admit Card Download".
- Choose your RRB region (Ajmer / Bhopal / Chennai / Kolkata / Mumbai etc — 21 regional boards) from the dropdown.
- Enter your Registration Number (issued at CEN 07/2025 application stage, September 2024) and Date of Birth in DD/MM/YYYY format.
- Solve the CAPTCHA and click "Login / Submit".
- Your CBT-1 admit card PDF generates instantly. Download and print 2 copies on A4 — one to carry to the centre, one as backup.
- Verify your photograph, signature, exam date, shift, reporting time, exam-centre address and roll number against your registration record. Raise grievance immediately via the RRB regional portal if any field is incorrect.
City Slip vs Admit Card — what's the difference?
| Comparison | City Intimation Slip | Admit Card / Hall Ticket |
|---|---|---|
| Released on | 27 April 2026 onwards (10 days before) | 3 May 2026 onwards (4 days before) |
| Discloses | City + RRB region only | Exact centre address + photo + reporting time + signature |
| Allowed at exam centre? | ❌ Not accepted | ✅ Mandatory — printed copy only |
| Purpose | Travel + accommodation booking | Entry credential + identity verification |
Candidates with home centres in distant cities (a common reality given 63 lakh applicants) use the City Slip to book inter-city travel + hostel / hotel 10 days in advance. The Admit Card lands 6 days later with the exact venue. Treat them as two separate notices.
