The UGC NET June 2026 result is awaited. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the exam in the window 22–30 June 2026 (two shifts a day, Paper I and Paper II together in one 180-minute session), and the scorecard is expected in July–August 2026. The result decides eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD admission. No official result date has been announced yet — this page updates the moment NTA declares it.

UGC NET June 2026 result — kab aayega?

Here is the realistic sequence: NTA first releases the provisional answer key with the question paper and recorded responses (expected July 2026), opens an objection window (challenge fee historically charged per question), then publishes the final answer key and computes the result on it. Based on NTA’s usual timeline the result is expected in July–August 2026, but no official date is out — treat it as expected, not fixed. Keep your application number and date of birth ready and check ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

How to check the UGC NET June 2026 result

  1. Visit the official NTA portal ugcnet.nta.ac.in (or ugcnet.nta.nic.in).
  2. Open the "UGC NET June 2026 Result / Scorecard" link.
  3. Log in with your application number and date of birth.
  4. Download and save your scorecard PDF and take a printout.

What the scorecard shows

The UGC NET scorecard displays your subject, subject-wise marks, percentile score, qualifying status, and the category you have qualified for (JRF / Assistant Professor / PhD). It is issued online only — download and keep it safely, as it is needed for fellowship, faculty applications and PhD admissions.

The three result categories

Qualified candidates are classified into three categories:

  • JRF + Assistant Professor + PhD — eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor appointment and PhD admission.
  • Assistant Professor + PhD — eligible for Assistant Professor appointment and PhD admission (no fellowship).
  • PhD admission only — eligible for PhD admission, but not for JRF or Assistant Professor.

How the qualifying percentile works

Roughly the top 6% of candidates who clear both papers qualify, distributed subject-wise and category-wise. The minimum aggregate (Paper I + Paper II) is 40% for General/EWS and 35% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD, but meeting the minimum is not the same as qualifying — the actual cut-off is the score of the last candidate inside the top-6% slice for your subject and category. NTA releases the category- and subject-wise cut-off with the result; it is not available in advance, so ignore predicted numbers.

Certificate validity

Assistant Professor eligibility is valid for lifetime. The JRF award is valid 3 years from the date in the award letter, within which you must join a fellowship. PhD-only eligibility is valid 1 year from the result declaration.

After the result — what next?

JRF-qualified candidates avail the fellowship using their award letter; Assistant-Professor-qualified candidates apply to universities and colleges as faculty; and those eligible for PhD apply for PhD admissions per each university’s process. Before the result, you can match your answers using the response sheet once NTA releases it — see our UGC NET June 2026 Admit Card page for the exam-day and shift details.

JRF aur Assistant Professor cut-off mein kya antar hai?JRF और सहायक प्रोफेसर कट-ऑफ में क्या अंतर है?

The JRF cut-off is higher than the Assistant Professor cut-off because the fellowship slice is smaller. Both are released subject-wise and category-wise with the result. Qualifying for JRF also makes you eligible for Assistant Professor and PhD; qualifying only for Assistant Professor does not include the fellowship.

How is the UGC NET top-6% percentile calculated?

The top 6% of candidates who clear both papers’ minimums (40% General/EWS, 35% reserved) qualify, distributed subject-wise and category-wise. So your qualification depends on your rank within your subject and category, not just on crossing the minimum aggregate.

What does the UGC NET scorecard show?

The scorecard shows your subject, subject-wise marks, percentile score, qualifying status, and the category you qualified for (JRF / Assistant Professor / PhD). It is issued online and is needed for fellowship, faculty applications and PhD admission.

How long is the UGC NET certificate valid?

Assistant Professor eligibility is valid for lifetime. The JRF award is valid 3 years from the award-letter date, and PhD-only eligibility is valid 1 year from the result declaration.

What is the difference between the provisional and final answer key?

The provisional answer key is released first and can be challenged during the objection window (an objection fee per question applies, as specified by NTA). After reviewing objections, NTA publishes the final answer key, and the result is computed on the final key.

I have qualified — what is the next step?

JRF holders avail the fellowship through their award letter; Assistant-Professor-qualified candidates apply to universities and colleges; and those eligible for PhD apply for PhD admissions per each university’s process. Keep your scorecard and certificate safe for these applications.

A note for candidates.

The wait between the exam and the UGC NET result is long because NTA runs a full answer-key and objection cycle first — so the smart move is to use this window, not refresh the site. Download your response sheet the day NTA posts it and estimate your score against the provisional key; that tells you early whether you are near your subject-category cut-off. Remember the result is percentile-based, not a fixed pass mark: clearing 40%/35% only makes you eligible to be counted, while qualification depends on landing inside the top 6% for your subject and category. Ignore the "expected cut-off" figures floating around — the real category- and subject-wise cut-off only appears with the result on ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
