- JEE Main 2026 prerequisite: Only the top 2,50,000 candidates from JEE Main 2026 B.E./B.Tech. paper (all categories combined per JoSAA quota allocation) are eligible to register. Admit-card download presumes this prerequisite was met during registration.

How the Admit Card Stage Works
- Open JEE Advanced Portal — Visit jeeadv.ac.in and click the "Candidate Portal" link on the homepage. The admit-card download link is active from 11 May 2026 (10:00 IST) until the exam date.
- Authenticate — Enter JEE Advanced 2026 Registration Number (received via email on registration), Date of Birth (DD-MM-YYYY) and the mobile number / email used during registration. CAPTCHA verification is enforced.
- Download + Print — Download the PDF admit card. Print on A4 paper with all photos and signatures clearly visible. The printout is the official Admit Card — JEE Advanced does NOT issue duplicate paper admit cards at the centre. Keep at least 2 printed copies.
- Verify Details — Cross-check name spelling, photograph, exam centre address, paper-wise reporting times (08:00 IST for Paper 1, 13:30 IST for Paper 2) and centre instructions. Any discrepancy must be reported to the JEE Advanced helpline at +91-1332-284272 immediately.
- Pre-Exam Centre Visit — Visit the allotted centre 1-2 days before 17 May to confirm route and travel time. Reporting time is 1 hour before each paper. Entry gates close 30 minutes before the start of each paper — late candidates are NOT permitted regardless of reason.
Negative marking: Not applicable at the admit card stage. JEE Advanced exam itself has variable negative marking — typically -1 for single-correct, -2 for multi-correct partially attempted, no negative for numeric-answer or matrix-match questions. Refer to the section-wise instructions in the question paper.

What is the JEE Advanced 2026 admit card?
The JEE Advanced 2026 admit card — officially called the "Admit Card for JEE (Advanced) 2026" — is the single mandatory document for entry to the Computer-Based Test on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Without it no candidate is permitted to enter the exam centre, regardless of identification, registration screenshots or fee payment receipts. IIT Roorkee, the organising institute for 2026, released the admit card on 11 May 2026 (10:00 IST) on the candidate portal at jeeadv.ac.in. The admit card is a single-page PDF showing the candidate name, photograph (as uploaded during registration), signature, JEE Advanced 2026 Registration Number, Roll Number, exam centre address, paper-wise reporting times and a centre-specific instruction block.
Exam schedule — 17 May 2026, both papers same day
JEE Advanced 2026 is conducted as a Computer-Based Test in a single day with two papers. Paper 1 runs from 09:00 to 12:00 IST; Paper 2 runs from 14:30 to 17:30 IST. Both papers are mandatory — a candidate must attempt both papers to be ranked. This is the key behavioural difference from JEE Main, where the two sessions are independent attempts; in JEE Advanced, missing either paper invalidates the candidature. Each paper has three sections — Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics — with a mix of single-correct, multi-correct, integer-answer and matrix-match question types. Question paper language is English / Hindi (candidate's choice at registration).
How to download — step by step
Visit jeeadv.ac.in, click the "Candidate Portal" link on the homepage, and authenticate using your JEE Advanced 2026 Registration Number (received via email when you completed registration between 23 April and 2 May 2026), Date of Birth in DD-MM-YYYY format, and the mobile number or email used during registration. Solve the CAPTCHA and click "Download Admit Card". The PDF downloads immediately. Print on A4 paper — JEE Advanced does NOT issue duplicate paper admit cards at the centre, so an unprinted or smudged admit card means no entry. Keep at least 2 printed copies.
Required documents at the centre
Bring the printed admit card (mandatory, in colour or B/W is acceptable as long as photo and signature are clearly visible) along with one valid government-issued photo ID in original — Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence or Voter ID. Photocopies are NOT accepted at any IIT centre. PwD candidates should also carry the PwD certificate in original. Biometric verification (Aadhaar-linked face authentication where available, plus thumb impression) is conducted at most centres against the uploaded photo. Reporting time is 1 hour before each paper — gates close 30 minutes before the start.
Reporting time and prohibited items
Reporting time is 08:00 IST for Paper 1 and 13:30 IST for Paper 2. Gates close at 08:30 and 14:00 IST respectively — late entry is NOT permitted regardless of reason. Strictly prohibited items inside the exam hall include all electronic devices (mobile phone, smartwatch, Bluetooth earpiece, calculator, fitness band, camera), study material, books, slips, geometry box, water bottle (a transparent bottle may be allowed per centre instruction), and any printed material other than the admit card. JEE Advanced provides a rough sheet at the centre — candidates may NOT bring their own paper. The centre will provide a locker or holding area for personal belongings but JEE Advanced is not responsible for safekeeping.
What if my admit card has a discrepancy?
If the admit card shows wrong photo, name spelling error, wrong centre or any other discrepancy, contact the JEE Advanced 2026 helpline immediately at +91-1332-284272 or email jeeadv@iitr.ac.in. Do not wait until exam day — corrections cannot be made at the centre. JEE Advanced typically issues a corrigendum admit card within 24-48 hours for genuine discrepancies. Centre-change requests are NOT entertained at this stage. If you are unable to attend Paper 1 due to a discrepancy, you may still attempt Paper 2 only if the issue is documented with the helpline before 09:00 IST on 17 May.
What happens after the exam?
The response sheet for each candidate will be available on the candidate portal approximately 5 days after the exam (around 22 May 2026). The provisional answer key follows around 24 May, with a 3-day objection window from 25-27 May. Candidates can raise objections with supporting evidence (recognised textbook references, NCERT pages, IIT-published material) for ₹500 per objection — refunded if accepted by the subject expert committee. The final answer key plus result is expected in early June 2026, after which JoSAA counselling opens for seat allocation across 23 IITs. Track parent JEE Advanced 2026 page for end-to-end cycle updates.
