Eligibility & Age Limit
Age Limit: 18–36 years as on Date specified in notification — typically 1 January or 1 July of cycle year
OBC: +3 years; SC/ST: +5 years; PwBD: +10 years (UR), +13 years (OBC), +15 years (SC/ST); Ex-Servicemen and other categories per Railway Board rules.
Educational Qualification:
- JE (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / E&TC / S&T): Three-year diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised institute, OR Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in the same discipline. Diploma holders are the bulk applicant pool — ~80% of selections.
- JE (IT): Three-year diploma or degree in Computer Science / IT / equivalent OR PGDCA from a recognised institute.
- JE (Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant): B.Sc / Diploma in Chemistry / Metallurgical Engineering — for technical departments only.
Nationality: Citizen of India, OR a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, OR a Tibetan refugee who entered India before 1 January 1962, OR person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries.
