Each recruiter conducts a separate selection process; CTET is only the eligibility filter.
Negative marking: No negative marking on either paper. Unattempted questions and wrong answers both score zero.

What CTET is, in one paragraph
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is the qualifying test for primary and upper-primary teaching jobs in central government schools. There are two papers: Paper I certifies you to teach Classes I to V; Paper II certifies you to teach Classes VI to VIII. You can attempt one or both in the same cycle. Clearing CTET does not give you a job — it makes you eligible to apply for one. The actual recruitment happens at KVS, NVS, DSSSB, EMRS and each state government's separate teacher recruitment cycle. CTET certificates have lifetime validity, so you only need to clear it once.

Qualifying score and certificate use
The standard qualifying score is 60% (90 out of 150) for unreserved candidates and 55% (82 out of 150) for SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwD candidates. Clear that threshold and you receive a CTET certificate with lifetime validity. The certificate is the eligibility document you submit when applying for:
- KVS (Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan) PRT / TGT recruitments
- NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti) PGT / TGT recruitments
- DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) teacher posts
- EMRS (Eklavya Model Residential Schools) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
- Central Tibetan Schools Administration
- Most state-government TGT / PRT recruitments (UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP, Haryana, etc.) accept CTET in addition to their own state TET
What to do between now and 10 June
- Apply early. ctet.nic.in slows down in the final 48 hours of every cycle.
- Pick both papers if you have any flexibility — for ₹200 extra (UR) or ₹100 extra (reserved), you keep both options open.
- Check your photo and signature scans match the spec (10-100 KB JPEG, white background). Wrong-format scans are the single biggest reason applications get flagged at admit-card stage.
- Save the official CTET September 2026 Information Bulletin from ctet.nic.in. Read the syllabus and section breakup carefully — Child Development and Pedagogy is the highest-scoring section for most candidates.
- Plan 16 weeks of preparation: 4 weeks per major subject area, with weekly mocks once the official sample papers are out.
For the wider teacher-recruitment calendar that uses CTET as a filter, see our state recruitment tracker, and for the latest school-board / education-news cycle, the HBSE result page and CBSE 12 result page are good starting points.
