Teaching Recruitment Landscape
India needs over 10 lakh teachers across central, state and aided schools, with NEP 2020 driving expanded recruitment. Teaching jobs offer transferable central or state pay, generous holidays, pension benefits in older recruits and respected community standing — making them perennially popular among graduates with B.Ed and aspirants completing teacher training programs.
TET Qualification Pathway
Teacher Eligibility Tests are the gateway. CTET is conducted twice a year by CBSE for central schools. State TETs run annually or biannually for state vacancies. Both have two papers — Paper 1 for classes 1-5, Paper 2 for classes 6-8. Qualifying score is 60 percent for UR, 55 percent for reserved categories typically.
Major Recruiting Bodies
KVS and NVS recruit nationally for central schools. DSSSB recruits for Delhi government schools — see Delhi hub. State boards in UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra handle state school vacancies. Private aided schools follow government recruitment norms with management approval requirements added on.
